The Best 800W LED Grow Lights for Seed Starting Indoors 2023

Viewed 11 times10-5-2023 05:14 PM

Growing plants indoors is becoming increasingly popular. With the right settings, growers can produce top-notch results no matter how large their acreage is. LED grow lights are an essential part of the indoor growing process, and choosing the best LED grow lights for your plants is an important decision. LED grow lights increase yields, consume less power and last a long time compared to traditional lighting options.

Why do we need LED lights to grow green plants?

In some sunny rural areas, it may not be necessary to use LED lights to grow flower plants such as lettuce, cabbage, tomato, pepper, cress, cucumber, etc., because the sun’s rays have all the spectrum of plant photosynthesis so that the seed plants can germinate and develop normally , flowering, blooming, fruiting.

However, in some cases, the weather is beyond human control. Sometimes, we may endure extreme weather, lack of sunshine, and farmers may suffer huge economic losses during the heavy rain season, so greenhouse planting becomes a way for farmers to control production;

In addition to this, some farmers want to shorten the growth cycle of the plants and want to give birth earlier than the average person.

Finally, e.g. for urban areas, where land is a scarce resource, some citizens want to grow some green leafy plants at home, but due to insufficient light, artificial grow lights make it possible for plants to grow healthily.

As mentioned above, if the plants are not growing in the soil outside, we need to use LED grow lights to achieve our purpose.

ECO Farm SP-800 Samsung Foldable Dimmable Full Spectrum LED Grow Light

This ECO Farm LED grow light uses 2176 pcs high efficient Samsung LM281B leds, boast the market-leading efficiency to 2.8 µmol/J and 2.5g yield per wattage with 30% higher Average PPFD, the actual power is 840 watt, it can cover 7x7ft growing area in Veg stage and 6x6ft for flower stage; Newest SMD LED technology to provide light output PPFD up to 2345 μmol/㎡s, high energy efficiency at 2.8umol/J.The best solution is to get more and better quality fruits. The light intensity can be changed by a dimmer knob according to the different growth stages of plants. With a 180°folding design, the angle and range of light can be adjusted appropriately and storage space-saving. One will meet all your needs.

Gavita Pro RS 2400e 800W LED Grow Light

Gavita LED grow lights produce 2400 μmol/s at an impressive 3.0 μmol/J efficiency and provide a broad spectrum of white light and enhanced blue light to help enhance flavor and aroma. This powerful full-spectrum light source is designed for all aspects of plant growth — from the vegetative stage to the end of flowering and when higher light levels are required. Using the Gavita Master EL3 controller, the luminaire can be dimmed by up to 10% without any loss of efficiency. The RS 2400e is built with high quality components including Gavita drivers and custom Gavita branded diodes to deliver the performance and longevity you’ve come to expect from a trusted brand.

Mammoth Lighting Fold Series MF08 LED Grow Light

The Mammoth LED grow lights are built with high-quality Samsung diodes. The lights encompass a continuous range of wavelength from blue and green to red, creating a light blend matching the natural sunlight. 469 Samsung LM301B diodes per bar delivers the industry’s Highest PPFD and Yield. Mammoth customized their light spectrum to optimize plant growth and increase yields while consuming less energy and reducing operating costs compared with traditional horticulture technologies. With a proprietary blend of 3000k+5000k+660nm+730nm, for full cycle growth. 730nm speeds up flower (~5 days) and adds up to 5% more yield. Up to 5x5 flower coverage, 7x7 veg coverage. Strategically designed bars/spacing delivering more even lighting coverage (and growth) over a 5'x5'.

Spectrum King Phoenix 840W LED Grow Light

Spectrum King’s Phoenix 840W is ideal for photon-hungry crops that can handle strong light. With 16% less wall power than standard HPS fixtures, the 840 provides some decent output compared to other fixtures while still saving electricity and heat. Spectrum King’s custom spectrum is tested and customized to maximize plant and flowering cycle growth. The intensity of this dimmable light can be as low as 10%, enabling growers to simulate a sunrise/sunset effect. Spectrum King’s innovative Cryo-Therm cooling technology features an ultra-thin profile that maximizes airflow and minimizes microclimates. The Phoenix 840 grow light is optimized for single or multi-level planting close to the canopy.

Choosing the Right Grow Lights

With all that said, what should you look for when buying grow lights for your houseplants? First, while there are several different types of grow lights on the market today, LEDs are generally the best choice for home and small applications. Not only are LED lights more cost-effective than other kinds of grow lights, but they are also the most energy-efficient.

Plus, they’re everywhere. Then, make sure you choose full-spectrum lights: lights that cover the entire PAR spectrum (400 to 700 nanometers) and include lots of red and blue light.

Another thing to look out for is the PPFD (Photosynthetic Photon Flux Density) value, although it is not a standard unit of measurement for most grow light manufacturers, it expresses the amount of light emitted by the grow light. More specifically, PPFD measures the number of photons per unit time in the PAR range on a unit surface.

Ideal values for indoor plant growth will fall within the 500 to 700 µmol/m2 range. However, don’t panic if you don’t see this value reported. While this is not the most efficient way to measure the output of grow lights, manufacturers usually report light output in watts or lumens. In these cases, aim for grow lights that cover about 500 lumens per square foot, or about 20–25 watts per square foot.

You can certainly grow plants indoors using regular LED grow lights, but you probably don’t want to. These lights are less efficient than specialized grow lights. They also don’t have the ideal spectrum in many cases, may not be powerful enough, and emit a lot of heat. That is, buying professional LED grow lights for your Indoor plants will be better!
